Bishop Strickland, may God bless you always, may your truthful voice resonate louder than the lies, thank you for writing to us in clear, salty words we can understand. We the sheep who are stranded in parishes and nations where the cancer of modernism is metastasizing are looking to you now, bishop Strickland. Thank you for reminding us of the truth. We are ignorant, for decades now, our ears have been filled with twisted interpretations of the Gospel, please keep on teaching us!

Bishop Strickland,

Can you recommend a good study Bible that does not have modernist tendencies and stays true to the deposit of faith?

I testify this scripture for the bridge, All scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work. (Timothy 3:16-17)

If Your Excellency truly believes members of the clergy (whether deacons, priests, and/or bishops) have betrayed the faith or the Church, I encourage you to eschew obfuscation and name names—have the courage of your convictions and put names to accusations. Absent that, it amounts to little more than weasel words.

The good Bishop does not need to ‘name names’ that would be the sin of detraction- One only needs to open their eyes and ask the Lord for the Grace of discernment. Everything is out in the open and once you see it you can’t unsee it. Pray, fast and do penance. Remain in the state of grace and pray for The Church.

Serious question -- if we believe that the Church has been given the Deposit of Faith and that the bishops have the authority of the Apostolic tradition, then where is the line between criticism and apostasy? How do we know that *we* are not preaching "another gospel"?

The Catechism of the Council of Trent has been recommended to me- to learn it and learn it well.

Also praying for the gift of discernment, these are treacherous times so prayer, fasting and repentance will be key in believers lives.

An old, uncorrupted catechism is a good idea. I don't know why I didn't think of that!

Yes the Catechism of Trent is very solid. Bishop Athanasius Schneider’s books “Credo” and “Flee From Heresy” are also excellent current work for teaching the traditional Catholic Faith.

By their fruits you will know them. Their fruits are rotten.
